Scotland’s Kieran Smith is raring to go as he takes a step up in class on November 30 against Peter McDonagh for the WBC International Silver Super Welterweight title on the exciting bill at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow promoted by MTK.

The bill itself features numerous title fights involving multiple evenly matched clashes including a British Bantamweight title clash involving Kash Farooq and Iain Butcher. Smith, who is fresh off another impressive outing on the excellent World Boxing Super Series show in Glasgow, is itching to get in the ring with McDonagh and claim his first professional title.

Smith opened up about his experience being on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series and his fight with McDonagh.

He said, “It was brilliant being on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series and to be able to be around such top names in the sport and a legend in Nonito Donaire. I can’t be more grateful to my management team at MTK for getting me the opportunities they have been getting me.

“I thought I performed well at the SSE Hydro and it was a perfect warm-up for McDonagh. My opponent was tough like McDonagh and had no quit in him and that’s what I needed in preparation for this fight on November 30.”

Peter McDonagh has been in with many top names in multiple weights and poses a solid test for ‘Chopper’ Smith. Smith, who many regard as one of Scotland’s future stars, gave his take on what he believes McDonagh will bring to the table on November 30.

Smith stated, “Peter is a tough man and he always comes to win. That will bring the best out of me as most people I’ve boxed so far go into a shell after the first round and try and survive. Peter hopefully won’t do that and you will see the best Kieran Smith you have seen so far.

“I don’t see anything apart from a dominant Kieran Smith victory. I know what level I’m at and I know that that is more than enough to win this fight and push on to more big fights in the future. I’m going to take this opportunity with both hands and hopefully, it’s the start of a journey towards more titles.”
