Dillian Whyte could face Dominic Breazeale, Alexander Povetkin, Manuel Charr or Luis Ortiz on July 13

Dillian Whyte

Leading heavyweight contender Dillian ‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte 25-1 (18) is set to return to the ring on July 13 in London.

The 30-year-old from Brixton recently knocked back the opportunity to face WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua 22-0 (21) as he felt the offer tabled underpaid him for his services.

Whyte has since been ordered by the WBC to face Dominic Breazeale 20-1 (18) for an interim title although it now seems likely that the American will challenge WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder 40-0-1 (39) instead.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes both Whyte and Joshua, laid out his plans in an interview with iFL TV.

“Dillian will be fighting July 13,” Hearn said. “[That] is our date that we’re pencilling in right now in London.

“Hopefully it’s against Breazeale. If [Wilder fights Breazeale] we’re saying Dillian Whyte should be the mandatory.

“Then he can actually have a fight on July 13 and wait for the winner of Wilder against Breazeale.”

Whyte has been in fine form over the past 12 months with victories over fellow contenders Lucas Browne, Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora.

The outspoken Whyte has long been angling for a world title shot but with the way the division is looking at the moment, that won’t be happening any time soon. Joshua is set to defend his unified championship against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller at New York’s Madison Square Garden in June.

But Whyte says he doesn’t care who he faces next, he just wants to fight.

“I don’t care, I’ll fight anyone. I’ve fought everyone, I’m willing to fight anyone, I don’t give a f***,” Whyte said.

“[Dominic] Breazeale, [Alexander] Povetkin, [Manuel] Charr, or [Luis] Ortiz is a possibility also.”
