Minnesota’s Javontae Starks links up with Victory Sports and Entertainment and will be trained by legendary trainer Sugar Hill

Sugar Hill trained Javontae Starks has announced he has linked up with a new management team, as he becomes the latest addition to the Victory Sports and Entertainment umbrella, co-founded by Rick Torres and Mike Leanardi, and will be managed by Brett Mauren.

Starks was a standout amateur in his native Minnesota, but issues outside the ring have caused the slick Welterweight’s progression to have slowed down in recent years. With management and promotional issues now in the past, Starks discussed his link up with Victory Sports and Entertainment.

The now Detroit based slickster said, “I’m absolutely delighted to link up with Brett Mauren and Victory Sports and Entertainment. VSE is one of the biggest growing brands in boxing today, and to be affiliated with them can only be a great thing for me.

“I need to do some rebuilding and I have the right team to do that. And I know that titles are on the horizon if I keep working hard and I will be winning titles in the near future.

“The combination of working with VSE and legendary trainer Sugar Hill is what every fighter dreams of. My future is looking bright and it is true that a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter, and I am happy, so expect big things from me in 2019.”

Starks new managed Brett Mauren added, opening up on his new charge Starks.

He said, “Our plan is to rebuild Jervontae. He is a top talent but issues out of the ring have caused him not to have the success he should have had in the pro game.

“I want to change that and myself, as well as the team at VSE, are committed to rejuvenating the career of Jervontae Starks along with his legendary trainer Sugar Hill.”
