Today! GGG Los Angeles Media Day Preparing for 6/8 at MSG

Boxing’s pound-for-pound superstar attraction GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN and his new trainer JOHNATHON BANKS are ready to show the fruit of their labor from their first camp together. With only a few days remaining before they head to New York, Golovkin and Banks will host their only media workout Tuesday, May 28, at Churchill Boxing Club (1630 21st St., Santa Monica, Calif. 90404). The session will begin at 12:30 p.m. PT with interviews, followed by the workout. Undefeated super middleweight contender Ali Akhmedov (14-0, 10 KOs), from Almaty, Kazakhstan, will also be working out. Akhmedov will be featured on the Golovkin-Rolls undercard.

Boasting a resume that includes a record 20 consecutive middleweight title defenses (18 by way of knockout), Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs), from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, and Banks, a disciple of the legendary Emanuel Steward, have been training in the high altitude seclusion of Big Bear Lake, Calif. in preparation for bringing the Big Drama Show back to Madison Square Garden, for the first time in over two years, on Saturday, June 8. Golovkin will go mano a mano, in a 12-round rumble, with undefeated Top-10 contender Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KOs), who hails from Toronto. The fight will be contested at a maximum weight of 164 lbs. and streamed live on DAZN. Golovkin vs. Rolls kicks off the exclusive six-fight, three-year global partnership between GGG Promotions and DAZN, the world’s fastest-growing sports streaming platform.
