Australian heavyweight Justis Huni 6-0 (4) scored a virtual 10-round shutout against Joseph Goodall 8-1-1 (7) at the Nissan Arena in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old was simply too classy for his former sparring partner, landing quick combinations to the body and head throughout the fight. At the end of the contest the scores were 100-90, 98-93 and 98-92. With the win Huni claimed the vacant IBF Pan Pacific, WBO Oriental and OPBF heavyweight titles and is expected to be rewarded with a top 15 world ranking with all three sanctioning bodies.

But despite his dominant victory, promoter Dean Lonergan wasn’t happy.

“There were two different fights going on. My guy Justis Huni was fighting for the IBF, the WBO and the WBC titles. That fucking idiot Goodall was fighting for the WWE title.” Lonergan said.

“Like, seriously, he came to wrestle, he headbutted.

“It was a disgusting performance in my opinion by Joe Goodall. He had a massive opportunity to come down here and set up an ongoing rivalry with Justis Huni where people would be excited to see them come together, Goodall didn’t nothing but the make fight as dirty as he possibly could and as a boring as he could, and if they think they’re ever going to come and have a rematch with Justis Huni, they can go fuck themselves.

“With these belts, that world heavyweight title fight is probably seven fights away.

“To say that when this kid’s only six fights in is nothing short of stunning, but those belts make a massive difference. Normally you have to have 10 fights with 10 wins under your belt before you can fight for these regional titles, so it’s a big deal.”

There are now a number of options on the table for Huni, including former WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight titleholder Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne 31-3 (27) and ‘King’ Kiki Leulele 7-1-2 (6).

“Kiki Leutele has signed a contract, so we will be fighting him at some stage,” Lonergan said.

“He fights this weekend and if he picks up a win he will qualify to be on the fight for these belts, and one thing [trainer] Rocki [Huni] has said to me is that out of those three fights, Kiki is probably the best fighter out of them. He’s never been stopped, he hits hard and he’d be a great fight for Justis.

“I think we might have another two fights left in us this year.”

Lonergan also took aim at Demsey McKean 21-0 (13), who recently signed with Matchroom Boxing and will feature on their debut Australian card in September.

“Demsey McKean, do not even talk to me about Demsey McKean, they will run like little bitches because they just will not fight Justis Huni,” he said.

“They know that after that performance, Eddie Hearn will be sitting up there thinking, why would I stick my big heavyweight in there with him. He’s got no chance.

“McKean’s done very well to get where he has by fighting guys who can’t fight. They’re rubbish men, who come off their route, put their boxing shoes on, turn around and get knocked out by someone who can’t fight. You can tell he can’t fight just by watching him train.

“To mention Demsey McKean, even though he’s sitting at number 10 in the world, he’d be easy pickings for Justis. Demsey McKean we’d take in a heartbeat but he’ll run like a little bitch.”
