Vaughn Alexander vs Brian Damian Chaves card set for July 29th in St. Louis

The Ambassador Club, Saint Louis, Missouri will play host to an eight-fight card on Saturday 29th July. “Fight Night in Lou” is promoted by DBA Cameron Promotions and headlined by local boxer Vaughn “The Animal” Alexander.

Vaughn Alexander (17-7-1, 10 KOs), gets a new opponent in Brian Damian Chaves, after the fight with Courtney Pennington fell through. The contest is scheduled for ten rounds in the middleweight division.

Alexander, the brother of former World champion Devon, holds an impressive win over top contender Luis Arias though has been on the wrong side of bad decisions several times. In his last fight, he travelled to France to take on unbeaten contender Christian Mbilli, in a super middleweight contest. He took the local man the full ten rounds. In his previous fight, he destroyed Argentinian Sergio Samuel Castellano in one round.

Vaughn turned professional in 2004 but took a ten-year break. When he returned in 2016, he went on a seven-fight winning streak. Alexander has mixed with very good opposition and has not always had the rub of the green, having taken current WBO middleweight champion Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, Anthony Sims Jr and Bektemir Melikuziev the distance. He, also, holds impressive wins over Elvin Ayala and Devaun Lee. ‘The Animal’ has taken the undefeated records of Filip Stankovic and Money Powell IV.

Argentinian Brian Damian Chaves (14-3, 5 KOs) is a southpaw who has held the WBA Fedebol Welterweight title. He turned professional in 2014 and won his first eleven fights. He has fought in Dubai, Germany, and Russia though this will be his first in the United States of America.
Chaves will be coming to win and hope to upset the party.

The undercard features experienced campaigners, unbeaten prospects and 50/50 match-ups.

Cruiserweight Knockout artist Brandon “Da Boss” Martin will be looking to remain undefeated against Texan Andre August (9-1-1, 5 KOs), in a six-round contest. Since turning professional in 2018, Martin has racked up seven straight wins, five by way of knockout. August has won his last four.

The local crowd will get to see St. Louis’ own Joshua Temple, in a scheduled six-rounder. Heavyweight boxer Temple (11-2, 9 KOs) is on a four-fight winning streak. He will take on vastly experienced Colombian Milton Nunez (38-31-1, 33 KOs).

Hailing from Las Vegas, Quontez McRath (9-1, 5 KOs) makes his return and will face Missouri’s Benjamin Zelfer (3-8, 2 KOs). The middleweight contest will be competed over four rounds. McRath won nine in a row before dropping a technical decision, at the same venue, last year.

Making his professional debut, Akeem “Da Dream” Cheatham. Akeem is a highly decorated youth and junior amateur boxer. He hails out of Las Vegas, where he was raised. He will be taking on Georgia’s Christopher Wright, in a four-round, welterweight contest.

In a four-round lightweight contest, Samir Simpson Bey (7-1-1, 7 KOs) will be having his fourth straight bout at the Ambassador venue. He will take on undefeated Maximus Moya (3-0, 2 KOs), of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Missouri’s Raymond Handson (5-1-1, 0 KOs) takes on Ricardo Medina (1-4, 0 KOs) in a four-round super middleweight bout. Both men looking to bounce back, after defeat last time out.
