Jordan Latimer back in October against Oliver Brackenbury-Danquah

Jordan Latimer

Middleweight contender Jordan Latimer returns to action in October against the bigger Oliver Brackenbury-Danquah. The two will face off at the Rainton Arena and former amateur star Latimer is keen to get his pro career back on track after a TKO loss to Fraser Wilkinson last time out.

Brackenbury-Danquah hails from Lincolnshire and having boxed as a light-heavyweight in the amateur ranks, he describes himself as a super-middleweight/ light-heavyweight as a pro. Brackenbury-Danquah primarily boxes out of the away corner but is looking to rebuild himself, having been the victim of a clinical second round knockout at the hands of Doncaster’s talented prospect Paul Clewes in July.

Brackenbury-Danquah’s story is an interesting one. Having begun boxing just six years ago with a white-collar bout to raise money for a cancer charity to honour his grandfather, who was battling the disease. Nine amateur bouts followed and, struggling to get matched, he decided to turn professional.

Oliver Brackenbury-Danquah

Brackenbury-Danquah has a similar any time, any place attitude to Latimer and has faced only stiff tests since turning over. In Latimer he faces a former Amateur Connaught Champion, who began his professional career with solid wins over more experienced rivals to continue this trend.

Latimer, who has trained with the likes of former European Lightweight Champion John Murray will be looking to pick up a big win and make a statement. Brackenbury-Danquah will likely start with a skill deficit but he is a passionate performer, who loves the sport, and he will be in no mood to give Latimer an easy nights work.

Brackenbury-Danquah will certainly come to fight and his raw but aggressive style should pose Latimer some interesting problems.

The fight takes place on the 21st October at the Rainton Arena, Houghton Le Spring with tickets starting at £50.
