The Sauerlands – is the crown slipping?

For a good number of years now Sauerland Promotions have, almost single-handedly, been keeping boxing alive and well on the continent of Europe. Along with the two heavyweights of British boxing, Matchroom Sport and Frank Warren Promotions, they are the stalwarts of European boxing.

What We Learned From This Past Week in Boxing (Sept. 30 – Oct. 7)

In looking at the boxing landscape this past week, I was pretty excited. While sure, it’s tempting to start focusing on the Timothy Bradley – Juan Manuel Marquez fight coming up on October 12. It’s a fight that I’m really looking forward to (and we will go into a full fight preview on this week’s episode of the Pound 4 Pound Boxing Report Podcast/Show later on this week). Alexander Povetkin vs Wladimir Klitschko: Will there be more fireworks inside or outside the ring

Dereck Chisora, fresh off his TKO victory in round five against Germanys’ Edmund Gerber, plans to travel to Moscow, Russia. He travels not to fight or to watch from ringside but to be part of Team Povetkin – Dereck will inspect Wladimir Klitschko’s hand-wrapping in an attempt to play mind games and unsettle the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion.

Chisora met Wladimir’s brother Vitali Klitschko in February last year and went on to lose a unanimous decision in Munich, Germany. But it was the incidents leading up to the fight that caused a stir between the camps, making Chisora’s hand-wrapping role even more interesting.
