Frank Buglioni previews Andre Ward-Edwin Rodriguez live on BoxNation

If Floyd Mayweather Jnr is a unanimous pick as the sport’s premier pound-for-pound talent, Andre Ward is the strongest candidate to emerge as his heir apparent.

The Oakland super-middle – USA’s last Olympic champion after striking gold at light-heavy at the 2004 Athens Games – carved a formidable rep by scalping the likes of Mikkel Kessler, Sakio Bika, Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch en route to winning Showtime’s prestigious Super Six tourney in 2011.

The self proclaimed ‘Son Of God’ further advanced his standing by systematically dismantling reigning WBC light-heavy boss Chad Dawson inside ten rounds in a 12stone defence last September.

Plenty of options still left for Froch

Reigning IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch is at the peak of his career right now and is at the stage where he will want to cash in on the biggest fights he can get before hanging up his gloves for good. He is fighting George Groves on November 23rd, and providing that the Nottingham fighter wins convincingly and without controversy, the search for more big fights will continue. But who is left? Actually, there are surprisingly still a number of worthy fights as I will tell.

Andre Ward on the possibility of the Carl Froch rematch in the UK

Jenna J: You believe that Carl Froch doesn’t want to fight you, I obviously watched the fight that he had on HBO against Mikkel Kessler – He didn’t actually seem so keen on a rematch with you right away. In regards to that fight, do you want that fight more than he wants it – even though you’ve beaten him?
