Callum Smith dominates Nikola Sjekloca to win World title eliminator

Callum Smith dominated Nikola Sjekloca over 12 rounds to successfully defend his WBC International Super Middleweight crown in a World title eliminator at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, live on Sky Sports.

Smith hurt Sjekloca to the body in the fifth and threatened to add to his 11 stoppage wins, but the experienced Montenegrin kept the Liverpool talent at bay, with the judges scoring the fight 118-111, 118-110 and 120-108.

Cleverly to Battle Bellew in Rematch that Headlines a Gargantuan Card on Saturday Afternoon

On Saturday afternoon, November 22, one of the biggest days in boxing will take place as an eagerly anticipated rematch between former Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly and former two-time championship challenger Tony Bellew airs exclusively and live on AWE.

The 12-round Cruiserweight World Title eliminator bout will originate from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England and will be broadcast LIVE in the United States on AWE-A Wealth of Entertainment.

Two co-main events feature two WBA world title bouts. Scott Quigg will make the 5th defense of the WBA Super Bantamweight title against Hidenori Otake of Tokyo, Japan. Also co-featured is two-time Bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell defending the WBA Bantamweight title against Walberto Ramos of Colombia.

Smith meets Sjekloca in a WBC Super Middleweight eliminator and the unbeaten 24 year old is preparing for the toughest test of his promising career, looking to move to 15-0 and close another great year in the paid ranks.

The Liverpool talent can see some big fights ahead of him in 2015 but knows that Sjekloca is a real danger man with his only defeats coming against WBO champion Arthur Abraham and former WBC king Sakio Bika – and Smith knows he must be at his best to add his name to that list.

Clarke Takes Confidence From Smith Spar

Lennox Clarke believes sparring with one of the country’s hottest prospects can only help him fulfil his own boxing potential.

The Halesowen super middleweight was recently invited to the prestigious Gallagher’s Gym to spar with WBC International Super Middleweight Champion, Callum Smith (pictured l-r Callum Smith, Lennox’s younger brother Ben Clarke & Lennox Clarke).

It was a great honour for the 23 year-old, who has recorded four consecutive victories since switching from white-collar boxing to the professional ranks last year. Now, with that experience under his belt, Clarke is determined to hone his craft as he bids to one day share a ring with Smith and fighters of his calibre competitively.

Callum Smith pens sponsorship deal with Scotts Menswear

Callum Smith has signed a one-year sponsorship deal with Scotts Menswear.

The fashion retailer has been a long-time backer of Matchroom Boxing and unbeaten Sheffield Welterweight star and World title challenger Kell Brook, and now they have snapped up Liverpool’s hot young Super Middleweight sensation who will appear in their forthcoming ad campaigns and back the young star in and out of the ring as he continues his impressive rise to the top.
