Prizefighter contestant Michael Devine happy with the draw against Danny Connor

Luton’s young boxing prospect, Michael Devine 11(3)-1(1)-1 is very happy with the draw against old foe Danny Connor in the quarter-finals of the Prizefighter Tournament televised live on Sky Sports on December 6th at London’s York Hall.

They clash in the second quarter-final with the winner then facing either Craig Whyatt or Lee Martin, who kick off the tournament.

The lightweight boxer from Luton commented, “I’m really happy with draw and can’t wait to get in there now. I saw the draw take place on the news and, at the end of day, me and Connor will be a good draw and it will definitely kick the tournament off well.”

Prizefighter Lightweights III – quarter-final draw

Danny Connor and Michael Devine will rematch in the quarter-finals of the Prizefighter Lightweights III on Saturday night at York Hall, Bethnal Green on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

Connor and Devine met in the same venue in September only for their ten-rounder to be halted prematurely when a clash of heads left Connor with a cut that he couldn’t continue to box with.

Both men expressed their desire to meet in Matchroom Sport’s eight-man, one night tournament this weekend and their wish was granted as their names were pulled out of the hat live on Sky Sports News by Johnny Nelson and Adam Smith.

Michael Devine Announces ‘Fight of the Year’ Against Danny Connor

Michael Devine has announced that he will face Danny Connor in the ‘fight of the year’ on September 6 at York Hall in a potential eliminator for the Southern Area Lightweight Title.

The two-weight champion, who initially won the belt at Super Featherweight level in March 2013, will step-up divisions against Connor for the opportunity to face current holder Adam Dingsdale.

Devine, also known as ‘Chunky’, successfully made the transition from Super Featherweight to Lightweight earlier this year when he beat Tornike Tortladze to be crowned as the International Masters Silver Champion.

And the Luton boxer can’t wait for the opportunity to fight for another belt, and believes that the September showdown will be one of the fights of the year.
