Degale KO’s Periban then calls Froch a coward

James DeGale MBE produced an explosive third round stoppage over Marco Antonio Periban at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

DeGale was ferocious from the office and after 30 seconds of the third round he had made the statement he promised, landing two huge lefts to render Periban unable to continue.

The Olympic gold medal winner risked his IBF mandatory spot in the bout but with champion Carl Froch watching on – and bitter rival George Groves in the ring next – the Londoner showed he has destructive power at World level.

Periban: I’ve operated at a better level than DeGale

Marco Antonio Periban has warned James DeGale MBE that he will show that he has operated at a higher level when they meet at the sold-out Echo Arena in Liverpool on November 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Super Middleweights clash on Merseyside with DeGale looking to impress as he hunts for a World title shot at the start of 2015, but the Mexican plans to derail the Olympic gold medallist’s plans.

James DeGale MBE faces Marco Antonio Periban in Liverpool

James DeGale MBE will face Marco Antonio Periban on the sold-out Echo Arena in Liverpool on November 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

DeGale is the mandatory challenger for IBF Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch, but the 2008 Olympic gold medallist faces a tough fight in former WBC World title challenger Periban on the undercard of the grudge rematch Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew.

“This is like a second final eliminator as if I don’t beat him, I don’t box for a World title,” said DeGale. “It’s a good test, he took Sakio Bika close and he had J’Leon Love all over the place and should have finished him off. He’s not a typical Mexican, he can box on the back foot and he’s going to come to fight and that will bring out the best in me. I am looking forward to it, it’s on a great show so roll on November 22.
