The latest Manny Pacquiao boxing news brought to you by Ringnews24.com

What we learned this week in Boxing (Nov. 18 – 24)

This past week, the boxing world was pretty much fixated on the return of Manny Pacquiao as he faced Brandon Rios in Macau, China. It’s certainly understandable because hell, the last time we saw “PacMan” in the ring, he was face first on the mat after being knocked out of his senses by Juan Manuel Marquez back on December 2012. The question coming into his return, to the ring, was how is Pacquiao physically and more importantly, mentally? Would he be the same old Manny, or would the KO loss to Marquez have a permanent affect on him.

Manny Pacquiao out to mirror a nation ready to fight back

Manny Pacquiao is fighting to overcome more than just his sensational knockout loss last year, with the hopes of a nation devastated by Typhoon Haiyan pinned firmly on his shoulders this weekend.

There’s no getting away how big a star Pacquiao is in his homeland of the Philippines, a country which has been left reeling following the natural disaster which has claimed the lives of over 5000 people and displaced as many as 4 million.

In the early hours of Sunday morning on BoxNation the face of the Philippines steps back into the ring for the first time since his emphatic knockout loss to the Mexican counter-puncher Juan Manuel Marquez last December, when he takes on Brandon Rios in the gambling capital of the world – Macau.

The Ironic Brandon Rios: Floyd Mayweather ‘awaits’ Manny Pacquiao to win

Irony, why does “Bam Bam” Rios seem to be the boxer who’s coming off a one-punch solid knockout loss to a Mexican juggler a year ago?  Why not instead the cool and composed Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao who fell face-down in his last fight and against whom Rios would have to battle it out to grab the WBO Welterweight title and try winning recognition as the sport’s newborn star?

Brandon Rios is full of fighting words, but he is tense. There must be conflicting thoughts running through his mind as he heads to the “Clash in Cotai.”  Rios is probably alarmed that Pacquiao is not in any way affected by the magic-slumber beating of Juan Manuel Marquez; fright-stricken maybe that Pacquiao could be finally back to his old form, even wiser and stronger.  Remember that Rios once intimated that he couldn’t have dared thinking of being matched with a prime Pacquiao.

Underneath the hype and hoopla of the Pacquiao-Rios grand event tomorrow are “known” facts and hidden truths that would set some captives free if unraveled.

Manny Pacquiao: ‘Speed will be key against Brandon Rios’

Manny Pacquiao has revealed speed will be the key in overcoming Brandon Rios in his welterweight clash live this weekend on BoxNation.

The Filipino prizefighter who makes his eagerly anticipated ring return following his sensational knockout defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez last December believes that the outcome will be decided on who lands first.

“I’m focusing on quickness, speed and some different techniques I can apply for his style,” said Pacquiao. “He’s a very aggressive fighter but I’m faster than him and speed and power will be the key to winning this fight. We chose Rios because he’s the best opponent for me and we can give an exciting action fight for the fans,” he added.

Pacquiao vs Rios: A War of Attrition

Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is lacing up the gloves once more this Saturday to take on Brandon ‘Bam Bam’ Rios – his first fight since a crushing knockout defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez last December.

While Sportsbook odds have the Filipino a -450 favourite and Rios at +340, neither boxer should throw caution to the wind. Rios is coming off a loss to Mike Alvarado in their thrilling rematch that saw him lose only by one point on one of the judges’ scorecards, and is a guy who loves to feel pain in the ring – as he expressed to Robert Garcia in his original fight with Alvarado – and there is no doubting that he will keep trying until both hear the final bell.
