Ricky Hatton feels stitched up after two judges and ref cost Rabchenko the WBC Silver light-middleweight crown

RICKY HATTON has paid tribute to Anthony Mundine, but he still feels his fighter, Sergey Rabchenko, beat the Aussie veteran.

Mundine picked up the WBC Silver light-middleweight crown with a contentious split decision verdict over the Belarusian in Melbourne on Wednesday night.

It was a display that showed the 39-year-old still has a place among boxing’s elite, yet the scoring raised questions as Rabchenko appeared to outwork him for much of the fight and hurt him several times in the later rounds.

Ricky Hatton: “Rabchenko can win over the Aussies like I did”

RICKY HATTON sees some similarities between his epic clash with Kostya Tsyzu nine years ago and Sergey Rabchenko’s dust up with Anthony Mundine.

The Hitman was relentless as he upset the odds by forcing the Aussie legend to quit on his stool after 11 rounds in front a raucous Mancunian crowd at the MEN Arena in June 2005.

It was a result that naturally fans Down Under were disappointed with, but oddly many came to love Hatton’s all-action style and laid back attitude and he feels Rabchenko can manage a similar feat at the Hisense Arena in Sydney on November 12.

Rabchenko: “I will win over Aussie fans”

SERGEY RABCHENKO believes a devastating performance against Anthony Mundine will earn him a new army of fans.

The Belarusian power-puncher knows a partisan crowd will baying for his blood when the opening bell rings at the Hisense Arena on November 12, but he’s confident that they will be singing his name by the end of the fight.

While Mundine splits opinion in the Aussie fight fraternity, he does have a large and vociferous following and Rabchenko hopes to win their hearts rather than break them.

Ricky Hatton: Rabchenko should have to much for Mundine

Ricky Hatton says Sergey Rabchenko’s November 12 clash with former three-time world champion Anthony Mundine is amongst the biggest he’s been involved in as a promoter.

‘The Hitman’, who also trains Rabchenko, has played a key role in world title fights involving the likes of Martin Murray and Ryan Rhodes since starting Hatton Promotions in 2009 and feels this will be an equally huge event.
