Boxers that know more than boxing

It is well known that many fighters have a past where they have had to fight for their place in the world, and not in the most kindly of ways. Manny Pacquiao was forced to drop out of school as his funds were so bad that he was in poverty, like so many other Filipinos of today’s world. Pacquiao was so poor that there were days when he was unable to eat as he and his family could not afford to buy food and was forced to sell odd bits on the streets.

Roberto Duran was another who had a childhood that had similarities to Pacquiao’s. He found himself on the streets often, stealing whatever food items he could to feed his starving body, so it is no surprise that people, maybe unfairly, class boxers as people who are deeply uneducated beings that know nothing except to engage in bloody combat.

Team Stiverne calls for action, V. Klitschko holding WBC belt hostage

The latest ruling by the World Boxing Council (WBC), allowing its heavyweight champion, Vitali “Dr. Ironfist” Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs), to avoid fighting No. 1 mandatory challenger Bermane “B. Ware” Stiverne (23-1, 20 KOs), has drawn anger from an increasingly frustrated Team Stiverne.

Bermane Stiverne being ducked by Vitali?

When heavyweight contender Bermane “B. Ware” Stiverne (21-1, 20 KOs) upset Chris Arreola (35-3, 30 KOs) on HBO this past April 27, in a title elimination bout, it set-up the dangerous Canadian for a super fight versus future Hall of Famer and long-time World Boxing Council (WBC) World Heavyweight Champion, Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs).

Klitschko’s next for Haye?

After David Haye’s emphatic victory over gutsy American veteran John Ruiz, at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, I am sure the public are wondering who is next for him.

Racist America? Oh Well Arise King Klitschko’s

A hugely repeated statement about the world of boxing is that the heavyweight division is dead, or dying, nobody cares any more about it apparently. It’s dominated by “dull Europeans” who nobody seems to have any positive feelings for as they grind out “boring” wins one after another. Of course they are talking about the brothers Klitschko, the #1 and #2 in the division. Recently we saw the giant ESPIRIT Arena in Düsseldorf packed to the rafters, not for the first time the Klitschko’s have sold out a huge arena and it won’t be the last either. So is heavyweight boxing really dying?
