Midlands Star Joins Coldwell Boxing

In a week when Coldwell Boxing announced the mouth-watering lightweight clash between Derry Mathews and Curtis Woodhouse, promoter Dave Coldwell has also been busy bolstering his booming stable by completing the signing of highly-talented Birmingham middleweight, Tommy Langford.

A star amateur who had the prestigious honour of captaining his nation in international competition, Langford was a regular at the latter stages of domestic tournaments. After failing to fulfil his ABA title dream, Langford pursued professional prizes and the transition has been a successful one so far as the Devon born youngster has raced to 5-0 since handing back his club colours. Coldwell is confident that Langford has the tools to develop into a future champion.

“I’m happy to have a kid like Tommy on our team because he’s a switched on fighter who is dedicated to the sport,” buzzed Coldwell. “Tommy has made a great start to his career so far and it’s a career that is only going to get better and better. Coldwell Boxing has made a few big moves in the last year and adding Tommy to our ranks is certainly one of them. I’m looking forward to watching him fight.

Coldwell added, “Working with Jon Pegg (Tommy’s manager) is also going to bring me a lot of satisfaction as there are not many people who have Jon’s knowledge and enthusiasm. Jon has done a great job with Tommy so far and I know the two of us working together can deliver the right fights and give Tommy the best chance possible in the sport. He’s a big lad with great ability and he’ll make a good impression on the middleweight scene.”
