Paddock Visits Saddlers Ahead of Title Tilt

Luke Paddock visited his hometown football club on Saturday and vowed to make it a hat-trick of belts when he fights for the vacant Midlands Area Light Welterweight Title next month.

The Walsall boxer showed off his International Masters light welterweight belt and British Bronze Masters Light Welterweight belt at Walsall FC’s Bank’s Stadium on Saturday as The Saddlers drew 2-2 with local rivals, Shrewsbury Town, in the FA Cup.

Paddock is hoping to go one better and secure a third pro belt when he meets a local rival of his own – Stoke’s Joshua McLaren – on Saturday, 6th December at the Queens Theatre, Burslem.

“I want to win this belt for myself but also the people of Walsall,” Paddock told www.uko-boxing.com. “All of my fights so far have either been in Walsall or Wolverhampton so I’m stepping into McLaren’s backyard for this one.

“When I fight in Walsall the atmosphere is electric. I want to bring this belt back and defend it in my hometown in 2015. It’s great to have the support of the people of Walsall. Being a local lad, it means everything to me.

“It was great to visit Walsall FC again. I love going there and I thought the team were unlucky to only get a draw. I’ll get the win for Walsall on the 6th December though.”

Tickets to see McLaren and Paddock face off are priced at £30, £40 or £50 Ringside and are available by calling 07913 861 718.

‘Christmas Cracker’ also features Stafford’s British Bronze Masters Super Middleweight Champion, Grant Cunningham, against Dudley’s Jamie ‘Danger’ Gelder whilst Stoke’s Kieran McLaren steps in with Tamworth’s Matt Seawright at light welterweight.

Chester light welterweight, Nathan Clarke, faces Plymouth debutant Jamie Ingleby and Stoke lightweight, Kevin Hanks, features against Swindon’s Dean Evans.

Wolverhampton super featherweight, Des Bowater, and Stoke lightweight, Andy Keates, complete the card at Queens Theatre, Burslem, on Saturday, 6th December.
