Logan Paul is serious about beating Floyd Mayweather

It’s hard what to think of the sport of boxing these days.

For example, next weekend we will see one of the sport’s greatest fighters of all time, Floyd Mayweather, step back into the ring. But this time Mayweather won’t be facing off with a legitimate boxing opponent, as he will be engaging in a high-profile exhibition match up versus infamous YouTuber Logan Paul.

What can one say about Logan Paul? Well there’s a lot of things you can like about the guy, but it’s really hard to get a gauge on his true fighting skills.

He has a massive online following on social media with 19.5 million Instagram followers, and 23 million YouTube subscribers.

But the more alarming stat is his 0-1 professional record in boxing. Paul lost to fellow socialite KSI in 2019 and has yet to return to the ring. But when a fight with the legendary Mayweather came about, Paul instantly jumped on it.

And he insists that this is more than just an exhibition match for show.

“It’s not an exhibition,” said Paul said to Skysports. “What exhibition is eight three-minute rounds? This is a fight.”

Paul’s brother Jake is 3-0 (3 KO’s) as a pro and has been involved in the pre-fight lead up to this fight.

“He’s trying to make an example of the big brother, so the younger brother has to suffer and watch and witness,” Logan said. “I don’t know if you’ve seen ‘Scarface’, but that’s what he’s trying to do.”

For Paul, who is much taller, younger, and bigger than the 44-year old Mayweather, he says it will be intense.

“This is going to be a war,” said Paul. “I’m not going to make s*** easy for him. We’ve been training our asses off for eight months now, preparing to fight this guy.”

Paul then pointed to his advantages.

“I’m 30 pounds heavier, I’m like six, seven inches taller,” Paul said. “Half his age and I’m hungry, and I’ve got nothing to lose.

I’m going in there with that energy, and he’s got everything to lose. There’s a lot on the table for him, not a lot on the table for me, and that’s a dangerous man.

It’s a fight, so anything can happen.”

Mayweather compiled a perfect 50-0 record while active as a professional. His last official fight was against Conor McGregor in 2017.

Mayweather insists he will be able to do whatever he wants to in the ring, but Paul doesn’t want to be overlooked.

“For those people telling me that it’s impossible. You’d be lying if you said there wasn’t a chance that I could beat him.

“Yeah, I think I’m going to go in there and decapitate him in the first round, and if it doesn’t happen, we’re going for the second, and then the third and the fourth,” said Paul. “Who knows, it could go the distance, but it’s going to be a show regardless.”
