It’s make or break for Aji Sharif

When 32 year old Aji Sharif turned professional in 2013 he had high hopes with his sole defeat as an amateur coming at the hands of Olympic Gold Medallist Anthony Joshua.

His professional career started off in good fashion with 3 straight victories including a stoppage. His fourth professional fight was set for December 2013 on a Goodwin Promotions Matchroom fight pass show where he took on 6 foot 9 ins “The Giant” Imantas Davidaitis. Davidaitis had been to the UK shores before knocking out Sheffield prospect David Howe in two rounds.

Ringnews24.com: You have a fight coming up against Mario Lakatos. How did that fight come about, and which other boxers were you looking at?

Well, my manager and promoter Steve Goodwin offered the fight to me and I accepted. I haven’t really got my eye on any fighters at the moment, the real aim is to fight anyone and everyone who is in the way of me winning titles and becoming champion.

My trainer is Andrew Edge and we train at Raw Deal Boxing club based in Beading.

“The General” signs with the Goodwins

“The General” Aji Sharif is the latest boxer in he heavier weight categories to sign with the Goodwin’s.

Cruiserweight Sharif’s only loss in a boxing ring came to Anthony Joshua in the ABA’s and has now decided to turn professional and will make his debut on the “Smokin Joe and the Heavyweights” card at York Hall on November 16 th.
