Figueroa, McDonnell victorious in Hidalgo, Texas

Omar “Panterita” Figueroa (25-0-1, 18 KOs) remained undefeated as he put on an exciting show in front of a raucous hometown crowd and earned a unanimous decision over Ricky Burns (37-5-1, 11 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on CBS live from State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.

Figueroa was the sharper fighter who landed harder punches and was able to dictate the pace of the fight. Burns was deducted a point in both the eighth and 11th rounds by the referee for excessive holding. “Panterita” won by scores of 116-110 twice and 117-109.

Hobson: ‘McDonnell Anything But World Class’

Dennis Hobson is certain Jamie McDonnell’s recent performance against Javier Chacon proves he is a fighter in decline.

After successive losses to Chris Edwards and Lee Haskins, Hobson backed Doncaster’s McDonnell and invested heavily to secure home advantage when he beat Mexico’s Julio Ceja to claim the IBF world bantamweight title in 2013.

Chacon replaces Ramos for McDonnell World title

Javier Chacon will challenge Jamie McDonnell for the WBA World Bantamweight title at the sold-out Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday night (November 22) live on Sky Sports Box Office.

McDonnell is defending his WBA crown for the first time after he landed the belt with a spectacular KO win over Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat at Wembley Stadium in May, and the Doncaster star will take on Tomoki Kameda in a unification bout if he defeats Chacon this weekend.
