Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand: Super Fly: Srisaket (34-4-1) W TKO 4 Jose Salgado (34-3-2). Srisaket just too strong and aggressive for Mexican Salgado The visitor had the edge in height and reach but in the first round it was evident his jab was not strong enough to keep Srisaket out and the Thai was ducking under it and scoring with southpaw lefts.

Javier Fortuna beats Cotto in Foul Fest

Fortuna’s fight with Abner Cotto was sloppy, comical and ugly––if it’s possible to be both ugly and comical at the same time.

The horrific performance from referee Lou Hall, who was officiating his first significant career fight, only added to the mayhem, chaos, and havoc.

Fortuna (26-0-1) buzzed Cotto (18-3) early in the first and second rounds, but Cotto hung in and even scored a “knockdown” in round two with two of the neatest back of the head rabbit punches ever thrown. Hall called it a knockdown which it was not and then took a point away from Cotto for the knockdown. Huh!

Fortuna to Cotto: No Excuses Tonight

Former interim WBA Featherweight World Champion and undefeated super featherweight contender, Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna doesn’t want to hear any excuses tonight.

Fortuna (25-0-1, 18 KOs) of La Romana, Dominican Republic, is set to take on Puerto Rico’s Abner “Pin” Cotto (18-2, 8 KOs) in a 10-round super featherweight bout to open tonight’s (Saturday, November 1) SHOWTIME BOXING: Special Edition tripleheader (live at 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.

“Every time I beat someone, they say there were sick, or they say they were injured,” said Fortuna. “There’s always an excuse. They had a cold. It’s always something. My opponents always have an excuse. I want to know Abner Cotto is 100% ready for Saturday so when I beat him, there are no excuses.”
