Birmingham super bantamweight, Sean Davis, is confident of lifting the English Title when he goes toe-to-toe with Nottingham veteran, Jason ‘2 Smooth’ Booth this weekend writes James Eley.

‘Showtime’ tops John Costello’s Fight Network show – Firepower – at the Venue, Edgbaston on Saturday night as he looks to extend his unbeaten run to 9-0 and claim his first major title.

“I know I will come away the winner because I have worked as hard as possible,” the 26 year-old told www.uko-boxing.com. “I think someone else would have had a heart attack if they did the amount of training I have been doing and it has left me in perfect shape.

“I have increased the rounds in the gym for this fight and I feel in brilliant shape. I have been sparring with lightweights. Booth has so much experience, so we have worked a lot as a team on different tactics for the fight. It has been hard work but it will all come together on fight night.”

38 year-old Booth remains one of the biggest names in the division. 2016 marks his 20th year as a professional boxer and Davis admits he has the utmost respect for the former British and Commonwealth Champion. However, he will put that to one side on Saturday evening as he aims to lift the English Title in front of his home support.

“I have so much respect for Jason Booth because of what he has done in his career but I know I will beat him,” Davis added. “Having the English title will put me in the mix with the top super bantamweights about. It will put a target on my back but I don’t mind that and I am ready and prepared to fight anyone.

“The venue is just up the road from where I lived as a kid so that makes it extra special. The atmosphere should be electric. We are bringing a big support who have promised to raise the roof so I am expecting it to be loud and I’m ready to deliver the goods.”

Firepower takes place at The Venue, Icknield Port Road, Edgbaston on Saturday, 27th February. Scott Quigg vs. Carl Frampton World Title Fight will also be shown on big screens. The likes of Coventry’s Troy James and Joe Sherriff also feature on the card.
