Undefeated Luis Rodriguez in action this Friday in Panama

Luis Rodriguez, a perfect 11 wins in 11 fights with 11 stoppages, makes his first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Americas Super Middleweight title against Ecuadoran Roger Guerrero on Friday, April 14 at Coliseo do Combates, Panama City, Panama and streamed live on ESPN+ beginning at 8 pm.

Rodriguez (11-0, 11 KOs) from Toa Alto, Puerto Rico, made his pro debut on June 11, 2021. His knockouts have come in rounds 2, 1, 4, 1, 2, 2, 1, 4, 3, 2 and 2 and looks to keep not only his undefeated record intact but his knockout streak also.

Rodriguez won the title on January 28 in a scheduled ten round bout. He knocked Encarnacion Diaz down in round two with a left hook, then delivered a flurry of punches that dropped him a second time. Diaz could not recover while referee Guillermo Perez Pineda counted to ten and the fight was called at 3:00 of round two and a new champion was crowned.

Friday’s challenger, Roger Guerrero (17-3-1, 10 KOs) from El Coca, Ecuador, recently challenged for the WBA Fedalatin super middleweight title.

“I had a wonderful opportunity to fight for and win the title in only my eleventh fight and I am here to stay,” said Rodriguez. “It’s time for young blood to carry this division and I am looking to fight the best and become the super middleweight so Puerto Rico can celebrate a new world champion.”

Rodriguez’s advisor, Attorney Tony Gonzalez stated “This kid Rodriguez can box, slug and end the fight with one punch with either hand. He’s the full package and it’s full steam ahead.”

Also featured on the card will be undefeated super middleweight and 4-time Venezuela National Champion Giodanny Jimenez (11-0, 10 KOs). Jimenez will battle Ecuadoran Antonio Ocles (12-11-2, 3 KOs) for the WBA Latino title. Ocles is coming off 2 straight wins while Jimenez has won by TKO in his last two fights.

The event is being promoted by Master Promotions and All Star Boxing.
