1. Pacman 🙂
2. Sergio Martinez even though he is not a belt holder he was for a long while. Might not be considered a juniormiddle any longer. if not I’ll edit it. would like to see what the members think.
3. Miguel Cotto
4. Kermit Cintron
5. Paul Williams

Edited my #5 from Alfredo Angulo to Paul Williams, who I forgot all about!

2. Miguel Cotto (WBA)
3. Paul Williams
4. Kermit Cintron
5. Alfredo Angulo

dzindiruk is the longest title holder in the division. cotto’s resume eclipses everyone else in the division but hes only beat foreman at 154 so #2 is appropriate. as for 3 to 5, williams “beat” cintron who beat angulo. the runner up is either bundrage (IBF) or rhodes. margarito is a disgrace, but putting that aside he’s not even top 10 even though the WBC seems to feel hes #1… so who knows where pacman will fit in when he beats the cheat.

looks like williams next fight will be the martinez rematch at 160, cintron is sort of on the outs with his last performance against williams, angulo turned down a big payday or maybe he just turned down fighting a mobile boxer (hmmm), dzinziruk has no economic power so its unlikely hes going to fight anybody else in the top 5. cotto is probably going to stay in house at top rank.

1. Sergey Dzinziruk (deep as the division is, not many have top cllass wins at 154, I think Sergeys 7 defences get him the top spot)
2. Cotto ( I didnt really rate Foreman but Cottos performance was impressive enough to get him second imo)
3. Williams ( Even though I had cintron winning through 3 rounds it went down as a Williams win )
4. Cintron
5. Angulo

1.) Paul Williams
2.) Miguel Angel Cotto
3.) Serhiy Dzinziruk
4.) Kermit Cintron
5.) Alfredo Angulo

my reasoning for Dzinziruk being 3rd is that although he has successfully defended the title so many times, the opposition hasn’t been that great

Williams has had 2 fights at the weight, both against world class opposition and has won both, the 1st arguably could have gone either way and the 2nd ended prematurely but the fact is still there that they are both wins on the resume

i know Cotto has only won the 1 fight at the weight but i believe talent wise there isn’t many better in the division apart from maybe Williams and i expect him to be successful at the weight for quite a few more fights

on a side note why is Dzinziruk ranked at number 25 on Boxrec?!?

considering he’s a champion and he’s defended his belt 7 times why is he so low

5. Vanes Martirosyan

Reasoning; Williams beats most guys from 147 to 160 imo. Has avenged his only loss, and has beaten MArtinez, the only other guy I think deserving of the top spot (even though he’s ranked in a couple of divisions…same goes for Williams).
Dzinziruk is incredibly 25th on Boxrec’s rankings, which are usually quite accurate at basing a fighters level of opposition, but Serhiy has a few decent names on his resume, and if it came to it, I think he beats everyone else, including Cotto at 154, outside of those I placed above him.
Cotto comes here mainly from his achievements at 140-147 lbs, but he did beat one of the top guys in his only real fight at 154 lbs.
Martirosyan comes in due to some nice recent wins, and the fact I think most other people who “would” be ranked ahead of him are beatable, and that he would or could beat the majority of them.
At 24, with a nice unbeaten record, he looks better for the money than the likes of KO artist Cintron imo.

1. Paul Williams
2. Miguel Cotto
3. James Kirkland
4. Serhiy Dzinziruk
5. Alfredo Angulo

I know Kirkland’s been out awhile but hes better than the ones I’ve rated him above. A fight with Angulo would be a classic War.
Margarito, well hes done nothing since the scandal.
