Promoter, Bob Arum has dissed bantamweight sensation, Nonito Donaire after he recently switched to Golden Boy Promotions.
Arum said, “It’s not like I got another Manny Pacquiao, he’s [Donaire] a bantamweight and he wants to go up but I got four fighters who probably could beat him. He’s not big business, it’s just that because we had a valid contract you can’t just let somebody come in and ignore your contract, you got to fight back. Manny is where the real money is. With Nonito Donaire you get a rights view from television, he’s not a pay-per-view fighter, and the Filipinos don’t support him.
Arum didn’t hesitate to put down Donaire’s wife, either:
He hasn’t connected with the Filipinos and I think largely it’s because of her [Rachel Donaire]. I think the Filipinos can’t stand her. How dare she criticise the way Jinky [Pacquiao] dresses. Are you crazy? She’s all tarted up and she criticises the way Jinky dresses. Jinky dresses like a lady,” Arum stated.
