Reid not finished with the fight game just yet

Former super-middleweight champion, Robin Reid, who lost in the first round of the ‘Prizefighter’ tournament last Wednesday has said he wants to continue with his career, despite losing two of his last three bouts.

Reid had one comeback fight against a journeyman who had lost more than he’d won and only came away with a victory by one point. Current WBC super-middleweight champion, Carl Froch scored a technical knockout over Reid in 2007 in the fifth round and many thought that would have been the end for the ‘Grim Reaper.’ He came back to compete in SKY television’s ‘Prizefighter’ last week and lost to Tobias Webb over three rounds.

Reid has blamed the three round rule for the reason for his loss, but he is never short of excuses when he is defeated.

“By the time I was warmed up against Tobias Webb, that bout was all over. Another couple of rounds and I would have stopped him, he couldn’t have kept up that up for another two or three rounds and that’s the difference between world champion or no disrespect, Tobias Webb. I’m glad I did it, because it’s made me realise, not to call it a day or anything, but don’t judge yourself over three rounds. You’ve put ten rounds of hard training in and I just felt that in the end, I never had a chance to put it into practice. I spoke to Eddie Hearn and asked him about an eight or a ten rounder, maybe against a Tony Quigley or a Carl Dilks. I’m enjoying it, I am not saying as much as being world champion, but I can call it a day anytime I want. When it’s a struggle, I will call it a day,” Reid stated.
