Midlands Duo Preparing For Big Bouts

Midlands super featherweight pair, Des Bowater and Sean Davis, have been enjoying competitive sparring as they prepare for their upcoming bouts.

Wolverhampton-born Bowater faces Leicester’s Lewis ‘2 Slick’ Jones on Saturday at the Banks’s Stadium for a British Bronze Masters Title whilst Birmingham’s Davis is in action a week later in Cannock when he steps in with Maidenhead’s Jack ‘Crackerjack’ Heath.

“Sparring Sean has been a big help,” explained Bowater. “He’s obviously the same weight as me and is an unbeaten pro, so like me, he has no fear.

“We are helping each other along. I fight this weekend and then he’s in action a week later, so we’re at similar stages in terms of our preparation.

“I’m more than ready now. This is probably the best I’ve ever felt. I’m on weight and sparring 10 rounds. I’m doing them comfortably. I can’t wait to get in there now.”

“Sparring Des has helped me a lot,” added Davis. “I’ve known him a long time and we get on really well. We help each other improve during the sessions.

“If Des notices me making a mistake he will make me pay and vice versa. Afterwards we always have a chat about how it went and what we can change. I couldn’t really ask for better sparring as he is pushing on for titles at the moment. It’s given me great confidence ahead of my fight.”
