Mario Barrios Remains Undefeated With First Round KO

San Antonio Texas’ Rising star, Mario Barrios remained undefeated with an impressive 1st round knockout over Mexico’s Abraham Rubio.  Barrios, who’s managed by Al Haymon and advised by Bob Santos and Luis DeCubas Jr. improves his record to (6-0, 3 KOs).

After dropping Rubio with two brutal left hooks in the early part of round one, Barrios finished the job with a barrage of punches, forcing the referee to stop the bout.  With the move to featherweight, Barrios feels his power is much more effective.

“I feel real good at featherweight,” said Barrios. “My body feels a lot stronger at this weight.  The goal was to fire my jab and land combinations.  I was able to land a couple of nice shots to the body that left Rubio open and I was able to hurt him early.  After I put him down for the second time, I turned it up and got him out of there.  I’m ready to get back in the ring when Al Haymon says it’s time to go. I’m hoping to fight one more time before the year is over.”
