On Saturday night a broadcast episode of Premier Boxing Champions on NBC at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham Alabama undefeated WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) stopped Johann Duhaupas (32-3, 20 KOs) in the eleventh round by TKO. Duhaupas proved that he had a great chin by taking those hard shots landed by Wilder.

During the course of the fight Duhaupas was cut on the bridge of the nose and over the left eye while Wilder’s left eye was very swollen. Duhaupas was able to do some damage from time to time but Wilder would always respond back with a big rally of his own. Wilder started showing off and having fun in the ring during the later rounds hitting Duhaupas with everything but the kitchen sink. Referee Jack Reiss finally seen enough and called a halt to the bout at :55  in the eleventh round.

In other heavyweight action Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale (16-0, 14 KOs) won a controversial  ten round unanimous decision over “Big” Fred Kassi (18-4-1, 10 KOs). Everyone seemed to think that it was a close fight and could have gone either way but judges scored the bout 97-93, 98-92, and 100-90 all for Breazeale.

Heavyweight Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs) knocked out Vicente “Bufalo” Sandez (15-5, 10 KOs) in the third round. Sendez was dropped in round two and again in round three. The time was :35 in the third round where it all came to an end.
