Tureano Johnson providing great sparring for Daniel Geale

Gary Shaw Productions middleweight contender, Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KOs), is now the chief sparring partner for Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) as he prepares him for his upcoming WBC title clash with Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs).  Johnson, who captured the WBA International and WBC Silver middleweight titles in his last bout, is currently ranked WBC #2, WBA #5, IBF #8 and WBO #13.  He gives his thought on sparring with Geale.

Hernandez-Harrison, Johnson win at Roc Nation’s inaugural boxing event

American rapper Jay-Z’s first boxing venture went as anticipated.

In an environment perhaps reminiscent of HBO’s short-lived boxing series “KO Nation” in the early 2000s, performances by Hip-Hop stars signed to Roc Nation carried the broadcast between fights. It was a quintessential display of what Roc Nation plans to offer — new ideas — and that is something boxing so desperately struggles to grasp. They packed the Madison Square Garden, landed marquee names as sponsors, and booked the services of Michael Buffer at the mic for a small-time show with a big-time feel.

Tureano Johnson: A Boxing warrior

On April 4th, 2014, Tureano Johnson came within 51 seconds of securing the upset of the year, against middleweight power puncher Curtis Stevens. Referee Gary Rosato took this distinguished accomplishment away from the Bahamas born pugilist when he incorrectly stopped the fight in the 10th and final round of the boxing match.

Johnson was way ahead on all three judges scorecards, in a fight that is on the shortlist for fight of the year candidates. However, in boxing, sometimes it only takes one official to spoil all the dreams and hard work away from a fighter.

Rosato was the disgraced official on this night. His call was so horrendous; you would have to look under a rock in Alaska to find anybody who agreed with the stoppage.
